Farragut North (Red Line)
McPherson Square (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines)
It is a landmark address, and a graceful way to begin a stay in the capital. Three airports serve Washington, and each connects to the hotel by Metro, train, or car.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport sits about four miles from downtown and is the only Washington airport with a Metro station connected to the terminal. Two pedestrian bridges link the station to Level 2 of Terminal 2, near security and gates. From Terminal 1, follow the signs to the walking path or shuttle bus to the station.
The ride to downtown typically takes under 20 minutes, and the Blue Line brings you close to the hotel without a transfer:
If a Yellow Line train arrives first, ride it to Gallery Place and transfer to the Red Line toward Shady Grove for two stops to Farragut North. At the faregates, tap a contactless credit or debit card, or use a SmarTrip card.
The trip from Reagan National usually takes 10 to 20 minutes outside rush hour and 25 to 35 minutes at peak times.
Washington Dulles International Airport is about 26 miles west of downtown, in Northern Virginia. The drive to The Jefferson, DC takes roughly 35 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, so it helps to plan around the time of day, especially on weekday evenings.
Since November 2022, Metro’s Silver Line has run directly from Dulles into the city. The Dulles station sits on the north side of the main terminal, connected by a covered walkway with moving sidewalks, so the whole journey stays out of the weather.
Silver Line trains pass through downtown without a transfer. Ride to McPherson Square, or to Farragut West if you prefer, then continue a short distance north to the hotel. The ride to Metro Center takes about 53 minutes, with daytime trains roughly every 12 minutes. Allowing for baggage claim and the walk to the platform, plan on about 90 minutes from landing to downtown.
A car is the most direct and simplest option if you are traveling with plenty of luggage or arriving late at night, when trains run less often. Taxis and rideshares pick up at the airport, and our address will bring you straight to the 16th Street entrance.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is roughly 30 to 35 miles from the city center. Amtrak and MARC trains run from the BWI rail station to Union Station, and the full trip into downtown usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. By car, allow 45 to 75 minutes.
Union Station is also where Amtrak trains arrive along the Northeast Corridor. From there, The Jefferson, DC is under 15 minutes away by car, or you can take the Red Line from Union Station to Farragut North with no transfer.
Set your GPS to 1200 16th Street NW. The hotel faces 16th Street at the corner of M Street, and valet parking is available, so you can hand over the keys at the door and head straight inside.
Guests planning to drive can book the Park and Stroll package, which includes overnight accommodations, overnight parking, and a $50 daily food and beverage credit. It is subject to availability and cannot be combined with other offers.
Most of Washington is within reach on foot from 16th and M. The White House is three blocks south, Dupont Circle and the 14th Street corridor are close by, and the National Geographic Museum of Exploration is just across M Street. For anything farther, Farragut North and McPherson Square put the Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines within walking distance.
