Experience Fall in the Nation’s Capital

There is nothing quite like fall in Washington, DC. Between the picturesque foliage around the National Mall and the range of events throughout the city, there is never a dull moment! It is hard to pick a favorite fall itinerary for DC, which is why we invite you to create your own from the activities mentioned here, or by visiting our calendar page.

If you have an appetite for history we encourage you to join our in-house historians on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm to learn about our namesake, Thomas Jefferson, and other key figures and moments in US history. Meet in the hotel’s cozy Book Room or in the lobby in the morning. This is a great resource before heading out on your WHERE'S TOMMY? Instagram adventure!

Our exclusive self-guided WHERE'S TOMMY? tour of DC is FREE for all resident guests! This experience is available any day of the week, and guides participants to eight locations in and around the city of Washington where Thomas Jefferson stands. When you arrive to each of these historic locations, document your presence by taking a picture of character Tommy with your smart phone, and upload to Instagram with the handle @TheJeffersonDC and hashtag #WheresTommyDC and when you return you can unwind and enjoy a treat compliments of our chef and receive a bobble head for completing the entire tour.

After you are done exploring DC why not take a wineventure? The Jefferson, DC features over 1,300 labels of wine across the hotel's three dining outlets including Greenhouse, Quill and the Forbes five-star rated Plume. The list in Plume spans more than a dozen nationalities and dates as far back as a rare 1720 Borges Madeira. Among more than 50 vintages are those that Jefferson himself enjoyed in his time as well as the newer wines, which he would certainly select were he alive today. You can reserve your table in Plume online or by calling 202.448.2300.
