My name is Lord Monticello, but everyone just calls me Monti. I've been living at The Jefferson, DC as their official Executive Canine Officer, or ECO, since January, 2014.

How does one come to become the Executive Canine Officer? Good question. I knew from the day I was born that I was destined to live and work in a hotel like The Jefferson, DC. I remember telling mother, “One day, I’ll do great things.” She didn’t pay much attention to me, since I had four other brothers and sisters that she had to look after. So I kept to myself most of the time, planning for a life of greatness. My time finally arrived when the good people at PAW Rescue, based in Maryland, introduced me to The Jefferson.

As the resident beagle at The Jefferson, DC, I care deeply about the well being of our guests and other four legged friends living in Washington, DC. Although I am not the President, I am still the the leader of the Leash Party & our goals are:

  • Free bacon for all

  • The elimination of squirrels nation-wide

  • Fair wages for all hotel dogs

  • The dog’s right to choose whether or not to live with a cat

  • Continuing care for all senior dogs

  • Adoption of all dogs worldwide

  • Fighting for the rights of all beagles

  • Fighting climate change (so no dog will ever have to wear a raincoat again)
