Last Chance to Visit the National Christmas Tree
Since 1923, the US has held the tradition of lighting a National Christmas Tree in Washington, DC. Open through Jan 1, 2014, on the ellipse near the White House, this is a great night activity for the whole family. Seasonal displays include a Yule log, a large-scale model train and a Christmas manger.
Choo Choo on Capitol Hill
Located at the foot of the U.S. Capitol through the month of December at the U.S. Botanical Gardens, see the outdoor train garden, enter the Conservatory and enjoy a colorful display of poinsettias and other winter-blooming tropical plants, and the National Mall in miniature, a replica created with natural plant materials.
Have a Historic Holiday
Learn about the Christmas traditions of George Washington and his family, at Mount Vernon, located just outside of Washington, DC in Virginia. Guests can tour the grounds, meet historic characters and even take a candlelight tour of the estate.
